Twining bonds you with an Aniimo, granting new abilities and new perspectives on the world (official definition). It is confirmed to work in combat, exploration and traversal; the full toolset is revealed in-game at launch.
If you have seen one thing about Aniimo, it is Twine: bonding with a creature to gain its abilities and perspective. It is the mechanic that makes this game more than 'Pokémon but open world'.
What Twine is
The official description: explore Idyll, 'Twine with unique Aniimo, unlock new abilities'. The Japanese/ Korean localisations call it a link/bond (リンク / 트와인) that lets you 'become one' with the creature and experience the world through a completely different sense.
Steam page: 'Twine with unique Aniimo, unlock new abilities. … meet other Pathfinders, and battle in exciting competitions.'
Twine in combat and exploration
- Combat: bonded abilities change how a creature fights — role fit (DPS/BREAK/Sustain) can shift with Twine forms.
- Traversal: some bonds unlock movement abilities in the open world.
- Puzzles and perspectives: official material promises a 'different perspective' — expect environment puzzles tied to the bond.
What is not confirmed yet
The number of concurrent bonds, switching rules, cooldowns and any cost to Twine are not officially published. Those details are verified in-game at launch — this guide updates immediately after.
